ABS refers to Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene copolymer, a thermoplastic polymer structural material with high strength, good toughness, and ease of processing and molding. It is also known as ABS resin.
ABS
engineering plastic appears as opaque ivory-colored pellets, and its products can be dyed in various colors while maintaining high gloss. The relative density of ABS is approximately 1.05, with low water absorption. ABS has good adhesion to other materials, making it easy to undergo surface printing, coating, and plating treatments.
ABS exhibits excellent mechanical properties, particularly outstanding impact strength, allowing it to be used at extremely low temperatures. It also has good wear resistance, stable dimensional stability, and oil resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing bearings under medium load and rotational speed conditions.
The heat distortion temperature of ABS ranges from 93°C to 118°C, and this temperature can be increased by approximately 10°C after the product undergoes annealing treatment. ABS still maintains a certain degree of toughness at -40°C and can be used within the temperature range of -40°C to 100°C.
ABS has good electrical insulation, which is hardly affected by temperature, humidity, or frequency. Thus, it can be used in most environments.
ABS is not affected by water, inorganic salts, alkalis, or most acids. However, it is soluble in ketones, aldehydes, and chlorinated hydrocarbons; erosion by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil, and similar substances may cause stress cracking. ABS has poor weather resistance and is prone to degradation under ultraviolet (UV) light—its impact strength decreases by half after six months of outdoor use.
The largest application fields of ABS resin include automobiles, electronic appliances, building materials, and DIY manufacturing. In the automotive industry, it is used to produce numerous components such as instrument panels, exterior body panels, interior trim panels, steering wheels, sound insulation panels, door locks, bumpers, and air ducts. In the electrical appliance sector, it is widely applied in electronic and electrical products like refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, air conditioners, computers, and copiers. For building materials, ABS pipes, ABS sanitary ware, and ABS decorative panels are extensively used in the construction materials industry. In DIY manufacturing, it is used for items such as aircraft model wings. Additionally, ABS is widely used in packaging, furniture, sports and recreational products, as well as the machinery and instrumentation industries.
We provide customers with the most suitable lightweight customization solutions by replacing steel with plastic. Based on the specific properties of ABS plastic, product structure, product quantity, and product color, we design appropriate customized solutions. The mold processing time is 25–30 working days, samples are available within 2 days after mold completion, and the delivery time is 7–15 days.
