ABS refers to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, a thermoplastic polymer structural material with high strength, good toughness, and easy processing and molding. It is also known as ABS resin.
ABS
engineering plastic appears as opaque ivory-colored pellets, and its products can be dyed in various colors with high gloss. The relative density of ABS is approximately 1.05, and it has low water absorption. ABS has good bonding performance with other materials, making it easy to undergo surface printing, coating, and plating treatments.
ABS boasts excellent mechanical properties, with particularly outstanding impact strength, allowing it to be used at extremely low temperatures. It also has good wear resistance, stable dimensional performance, and oil resistance, so it can be applied in bearings under medium load and rotational speed conditions.
The heat distortion temperature of ABS ranges from 93°C to 118°C, and this temperature can be increased by about 10°C after the product undergoes annealing treatment. ABS still exhibits a certain degree of toughness at -40°C and can be used within the temperature range of -40°C to 100°C.
ABS has good electrical insulation, which is hardly affected by temperature, humidity, and frequency. Thus, it can be used in most environments.
ABS is not affected by water, inorganic salts, alkalis, and many types of acids, but it is soluble in ketones, aldehydes, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It may develop stress cracking when eroded by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil, and similar substances. ABS has poor weather resistance and is prone to degradation under the action of ultraviolet light; its impact strength decreases by half after six months of outdoor use.
The largest application fields of ABS resin include automobiles, electronic appliances, building materials, and DIY manufacturing. In the automotive industry, it is used to produce numerous components such as automobile instrument panels, exterior body panels, interior trim panels, steering wheels, sound insulation panels, door locks, bumpers, and air ducts. In the electrical appliance sector, it is widely applied in electronic and electrical products like refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, air conditioners, computers, and copiers. For building materials, ABS pipes, ABS sanitary ware, and ABS decorative panels are extensively used in the construction materials industry. In DIY manufacturing, it is used to make items such as aircraft model wings. Additionally, ABS is widely used in packaging, furniture, sports and recreational products, as well as the machinery and instrument industries.
We realize the substitution of plastic for steel and provide customers with the most suitable lightweight customization solutions. Based on the specific properties of ABS plastic, product structure, product quantity, and product color, we design appropriate customized solutions. The mold processing time is 25–30 working days, samples are available within 2 days after mold completion, and the delivery time is 7–15 days.
