Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)

The extremely high molecular weight of UHMWPE (ranging from 800,000 to 1,500,000) endows it with excellent performance. As a cost-effective and high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic, it integrates almost all the advantages of various plastics: comprehensive properties including wear resistance, impact resistance, self-lubrication, corrosion resistance, impact energy absorption, low-temperature resistance, hygiene and non-toxicity, non-adhesion, low water absorption, and low density.

Key Properties

Wear Resistance: Proportional to molecular weight—the higher the molecular weight, the superior the wear resistance, comparable to metals.
Impact Resistance: The impact strength of UHMWPE is 2 times that of PC, 5 times that of ABS, and more than 10 times that of POM. Its impact strength also increases with the increase of molecular weight.
Self-Lubrication: Extremely low friction coefficient (0.05-0.11) ensures excellent self-lubricating performance, second only to PTFE under non-lubricated conditions.
Chemical Resistance: Resistant to various corrosive media (acids, alkalis, salts) within a certain temperature and concentration range, except for strong oxidizing acids.
Impact Energy Absorption: Has the highest impact energy absorption value among all plastics, thus achieving good noise reduction effect.
Low-Temperature Resistance: Maintains ductility even at liquid helium temperature of -269°C.
