Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) are polymer materials that combine the properties of plastics and rubbers. They exhibit high elasticity of rubber at room temperature and can be plasticized and molded at high temperatures. Endowed with the physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber as well as the processability of thermoplastic plastics, TPEs are a new type of polymer materials between rubber and resin, often referred to as the third-generation rubber.

Product Features

They can be processed by general thermoplastic injection molding machines without the need for special processing equipment.
Production efficiency is greatly improved. Direct injection molding can be carried out with rubber injection molding machines; since vulcanization is not required, the molding cycle is very short.
They cover a broader range of applications. With the combined advantages of rubber and plastics, TPEs have opened up new application fields for the rubber industry.
They can be used for reinforcing and toughening modification of plastics. However, TPEs are inferior to rubbers in heat resistance—their physical properties decline significantly with rising temperatures, which limits their scope of application. Meanwhile, their compression set, elastic recovery, and durability are poorer than those of rubbers, and they are often more expensive than similar rubber products.
